Rare Book Room

Today we went to the rare book room. It was after Matthias and I had already presented our History of Typography presentation for the class. When I saw the book produced from the Kelmscott Press I immediately knew that it was made there. I could tell from the designs in the book that it was Morris' designs. It was cool to see the actually printing because it was one of the topics that I had to research. Finding information on the Kelmscott Press was pretty easy compared to the other topics we needed to research and after looking at the original I can see why. The pages were even more beautiful when I saw them in person. I can't believe that he designed every book like that. Morris loved Medieval art and you can tell from his designs that the 15th century is what inspired him.

I really enjoyed going to the rare book room. Although I felt that I had to be very very careful about things that I touched. I think that going there was a good experience because I probable wouldnt have gone in otherwise.
